Q: Tom, what made you decide to start personal training again after your injury?
Tom:
I tore my Achilles last year, so I’d basically done no fitness for six to eight months before joining Roar. It was a tough period. When I finally came in, it was humbling. I had to start from scratch. But I wanted structure and accountability. I wanted to rebuild properly and safely, and Roar gave me that foundation.
Q: What was it like returning to training after so much time off?
Tom:
Honestly, it was back to basics, and that was a good thing. I realised I knew less than I thought I did about the gym and nutrition. Every session challenged me, but having Jack, my PT, there made all the difference. He kept me accountable and focused, even when it got difficult or I was tempted to drift off track.
Q: How has your body responded since getting back into training?
Tom:
The results have been huge. We recently did a four-week cut before a holiday, and the feedback from friends and family was incredible. I’ve lost around two stones and I’m in the best shape of my life, hands down. More importantly, I’m stronger, more mobile, and my confidence is back.
Q: What impact has this had beyond the gym?
Tom:
It’s bled into everything – my work, my personal life, even my energy levels. I’m just happier and more driven. Training again after my injury gave me a sense of progress that I’d been missing for a while.
Q: What would you say to someone who’s hesitant to start personal training after an injury?
Tom:
